Other options for donating are available which would help mitigate this problem. They are: A- Make your donations to the Church by cheque to St. Leonard's-On-The-Hill which you can deposit in the mailbox slot beside the Main entry door to the church, or mail it in. These cheques will be deposited in the St. Leonard’s bank account by one of the Church depositors. B- A system for automatic monthly bank withdrawals was set up a few years ago, such as many of us use for paying our City Utility, Telephone and our other monthly bills, This approach is not widely used by Parishioners but those who donate in this manner really like it. C- An arrangement has very recently been made with St. Leonard’s main bank, Servus Credit Union, through which Parishioners can make donations by e-transfers from their own bank to the St. Leonard’s Servus Credit Union account, free of charge. We will be able to track the donations for each identified donor for income tax reporting. This is an excellent new option for Parishioners. D- For those who receive income from stock market investments such as shares in conservative holdings such as banks and utilities, a system has been set up with the Diocese through which Parishioners can donate shares to St. Leonard's through the Diocese which they then sell and forward the sales proceeds to St. Leonard's. The beauty of this system is that there is no income tax for you to pay on the increase in value of the shares since they were purchased, often several years previously. Unfortunately, the value of donating in this manner this year is very limited unless the stock market recovers the losses in value experienced to date in 2020. A few Parishioners also take advantage of this giving option when worthwhile.
