Army commands the air
seven personnel from 16 Field Regiment are embedded with US Marines in Hawaii. The Kiwis are obtaining their Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) qualifications. JTACs direct the action of combat aircraft engaged in close air support and other offensive air operations. In this training scenario at Pohakuloa Training Area on the 'Big Island', the Kiwis were directing F/A-18 Hornets, an UH-1 Iroquois gunship and AH-1 Cobra attack helicopter in a live fire exercise.
