Fukuyama revised and developed this argument in his book The End of History and the Last Man; there he spent more time dwelling on Hegel, KojÃĻve and the human desire for respect and dignity. Liberal democracies, Fukuyama argues are the regime best able to satisfy this fundamental human drive (thymos or thumos). Are they perfect?
