Support this channel 👉   / greatbooksprof   Francis Fukuyama's famous essay "The End of History?" was a powerfully influential work that advanced a provocative political argument: perhaps liberal democracy is the best regime there will ever be. Fukuyama revised and developed this argument in his book The End of History and the Last Man; there he spent more time dwelling on Hegel, KojÃĻve and the human desire for respect and dignity. Liberal democracies, Fukuyama argues are the regime best able to satisfy this fundamental human drive (thymos or thumos). Are they perfect? No. But perhaps liberal democracy is --politically speaking -- the best option we have. #Fukuyama #EndofHistory #Democracy What is the End of History? Who wrote the End of History?
