Besides controlling the two playable characters across a single scenario, the player is able to recruit creatures known as Dream Eaters that are able to assist in fights. In Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance HD, the camera, battle system, and Reality Shifts were changed or recreated to fit the controller better, along with the mini-games concerning the Dream Eaters.
