Atreus's grief transforms him into a bear, and he fights Kratos before regaining his sanity. Thor arrives with Odin, who offers to leave them alone if Atreus stops searching for Týr, and to kill Freya as atonement for killing Magni, Modi, and Baldur. Kratos refuses, leading Thor into a stalemate. Odin tells Atreus that he will leave Kratos alone if he comes to Asgard. Kratos, Atreus, and Mímir take refuge in the house of Sindri, located on an arm of Yggdrasil, and later rescue the peaceful Týr in Svartalfheim. At the temple of Gróa in Alfheim, they learn that only Asgard is doomed to destruction, while the other realms survive under a new champion, implied to be Atreus in the guise of Loki. Kratos and Atreus argue about the latter's presumed fate. While Atreus sleeps, he is transported to Jötunheim and meets Angrboda. Angrboda shows him a mural depicting Kratos' death in Ragnarök and Atreus' service to Odin.[b] Atreus is entrusted with the spirit stones containing the souls of the Giants, and he places one of them in the body of a serpent. Atreus returns to Midgard, and Freya attacks again, but agrees to spare him if he helps Kratos break the curse on Midgard, and Kratos temporarily overcomes the curse by transforming into a falcon. In Vanaheim, Kratos opens up to Freya about the deaths of his family in Greece, his revenge against Olympus, and the emptiness of revenge. After breaking the curse, Freya and Kratos reconcile. Kratos and Atreus argue about the latter's deceitful behavior, causing Atreus to flee to Asgard to prevent Kratos' death. He works with Thor and Thrúd to prevent Ragnarök by reassembling an ancient mask supposedly giving Odin infinite knowledge. Meanwhile, Kratos, Freya, and Mímir visit the Norns, who tell them that Heimdall is destined to kill Atreus. Kratos and Brok then transform the Ring of Draupnir into a spear that can harm Heimdall. In Helheim, Atreus releases Garm, the soulless giant wolf that creates rifts between realms. Reunited with Kratos, Atreus resurrects Fenrir by transferring his spirit into Garm, and Kratos and Atreus reconcile. In Vanaheim, Kratos is forced to kill Heimdall and seize the Gjallarhorn, triggering Ragnarök. Atreus returns to Asgard and reunites with the mask before fleeing. Týr agrees to fight and demands the mask; Brok, suspicious of Týr's change of mind, notices that Atreus calls him "Loki," like the Asgardians. Týr fatally stabs Brok, revealing himself to be Odin in disguise. He is banished, but the grieving Sindri blame Atreus for Brok's death and leave the group. Atreus and Kratos join Ragnarök and enter Muspelheim to help Surtr transform into his primordial form, destined to destroy Asgard.
