It's not actually that hard if you take it slow and speed kill the second phase. It seems to be complete RNG if you try beating him quickly, so don't do it unless you want to beat him quickly. Doing it slowly you can just charge up your Soul Meter in the first phase, once it's full you can wait for him to go to the top of the screen, hit him with Abyss Shriek 6 times and he doesn't stand a chance. Alternatively if you don't wait to wait for him at the top of the screen in phase 1, you can go into the second phase, dodge the spears until he does his spinning shield attack, and then just use Shade Soul from across the room and it should be enough. Best way to damage him during phase 1 is to just pogo on top of him while he does his spinning shield attack. Maybe hit him from the side or below if he's at the top of the screen. You can also attack while dodging the spears, it takes getting used to the spears and his shield movement, but it's not really necessary. It's easier to just take it slow.
