Fasten your seatbelts! The famous Sydney Smash is here. It is the derby day. Sydney Thunder take on Sydney Sixers at Sydney Showground Stadium in the 7th match of the Big Bash League (BBL) Season 15 on Saturday (December 20). The Thunder are coming off a four-wicket defeat at the hands of Hobart Hurricanes in a game that the team in lime green managed to drag it to the final over. On the flip side, the Sixers have got off to a poor start, losing to Perth Scorchers in a rain-curtailed game by five wickets and then going down to Adelaide Strikers in a thriller by three wickets. Both teams are looking to get their first win of the season. This is an ideal opportunity for them to grab their first points. Veteran David Warner is back in the Thunder side and will lead the team, taking over the duties from the stand-in skipper Chris Green. Warner missed the Strikers' clash due to an unfortunate injury he picked up while playing with his kids on the beach. The left-hander opener has said that he was running around with the kids on the sand, and a little bit of a twist, and his right lower back just went on him. He will require a pain-killing injection to play this weekend. He had hinted about him batting down the order this season and is expected to bat at 4. Making way for the skipper is Ollie Davies. The Thunder are also elated to see the left-arm spinning all-rounder Tom Andrews join the set-up ahead of the derby, replacing Charlie Anderson. Also, Sam Konstas has been given the green light after an injury concern to his elbow sustained against the Hurricanes that kept him out of the field during the second innings. The Sixers have also made two changes to their squad that was defeated by the Strikers. They welcome the BBL stalwart Kane Richardson, who is in line to make his Sixers debut after arriving in magenta from the Melbourne Renegades and, before that, Adelaide Strikers. Lachlan Shaw is also in the squad.
