Prelude in E Major

Although I generally prefer minor keys, when I do play in major keys I tend to gravitate towards major seventh chords, which are really major chords with minor chords stacked on top of them. My original inspiration for this piece came from the song, "Christmas Time is Here" by Vince Guaraldi from the Charlie Brown Christmas special. Both pieces open with a major seventh chord moving to a diminished seventh. My piece emphasizes the A#, a tritone from the tonic of E, and also employs an ascending melodic run between the two hands, something that I had never tried to do before. I love the overall harmonic richness of this piece.
