5 p.m. vigil Mass for the Fourth Sunday of Advent

The word "angel" comes from the Greek word meaning "messenger." The Bible is full of stories and examples of people getting messages from God through his messengers the angels. For the Jews it would be impossible to ever see God's face or perhaps hear his voice. He is too great; too much, too powerful. So, he sent his messengers (angels) to give his messages to guide and help his people. What is clear is that people have always believed that God guides us and shows us what we need to know. In some sense, angels are everywhere. In some sense, we are angels to one another.
