One day, while he was cutting wood in the forest, he saw a large group of forty thieves on horseback, heavily laden with sacks of treasures. Fearing for his life, he hid behind a tree and watched them. The leader of the thieves approached a large rock and said the magical words, "Open Sesame!" To Alibaba's astonishment, the rock moved aside, revealing a cave. The thieves entered the cave, and after some time, they came out without their sacks and rode away. When they were gone, Alibaba cautiously approached the rock and, remembering the magic words, said, "Open Sesame." The rock moved, and Alibaba stepped into the cave. Inside, he found an incredible treasure of gold, silver, jewels, and other precious items. Overwhelmed by the riches, he quickly filled his bags with as much as he could carry and left the cave, making sure to say "Close Sesame" to seal the cave behind him. He returned home, shared the secret with his wife, and they decided to keep it hidden, fearing the thieves' wrath. Alibaba's brother, Cassim, was wealthy but greedy. When he heard about the treasure, he insisted Alibaba reveal the location and the magic words. Driven by greed, Cassim went to the cave with the intention of taking as much treasure as possible. However, in his excitement, he forgot the words to exit the cave. Trapped inside, he was discovered by the thieves upon their return and was killed. When Cassim didn't return home, Alibaba went to the cave, found his brother's body, and brought it back for a proper burial. He asked for the help of Morgiana, a clever and resourceful slave girl in Cassim's household, to keep the secret and cover up the incident. Morgiana stitched Cassim's body together and concocted a story to explain his death, thus avoiding suspicion. Meanwhile, the thieves realized that someone else knew their secret and plotted to find out who it was. Disguised as an oil merchant, the leader of the thieves came to Alibaba's house, bringing along his men hidden in large oil jars. His plan was to attack Alibaba at night. However, Morgiana, ever observant, discovered the men hiding in the jars. She boiled a pot of oil and poured it into each jar, killing the thieves. The leader of the thieves, unaware of Morgiana's actions, was also dealt with by her cleverness. During the feast, Morgiana performed a dance with a dagger and, at the climax, plunged it into the leader's heart, killing him and saving Alibaba and his family. For her bravery and loyalty, Alibaba granted Morgiana her freedom and she later married Alibaba's son. The family lived in peace, using the treasure wisely and helping those in need, while keeping the secret of the cave and its magic words. Thus, Alibaba and his family lived happily, free from the fear of the forty thieves.
