Born in the mountains of Ghor (modern Afghanistan), he dreamt of expanding his empire eastwards — into the heart of Hindustan. 🗡️ Early Life & Ambition: Full name: Mu'izz ad-Din Muhammad ibn Sam (known as Muhammad Ghori). Ruled the region of Ghor after succeeding his brother Ghiyasuddin. Focused on expanding eastward instead of west like previous conquerors. ⚔️ Campaigns in India: 1. First Battle of Tarain (1191 CE): Fought against Prithviraj Chauhan (Ajmer-Delhi ruler). Ghori was defeated and forced to retreat to Ghazni. 2. Second Battle of Tarain (1192 CE): Ghori returned with a stronger army. Defeated and captured Prithviraj Chauhan, establishing Muslim dominance in North India. This marked the beginning of the Delhi Sultanate era. 3. Later Conquests: Captured Delhi, Ajmer, and Kanauj. Appointed his loyal general Qutbuddin Aibak as the governor of his Indian territories. Aibak later founded the Mamluk (Slave) Dynasty. ⚰️ Death & Legacy: Assassinated in 1206 CE near the Indus region (modern Pakistan).
