An elevator pitch therefore lasts no longer than 2-3 minutes and can even be as short as 30 seconds. It is particularly important that all content is not only presented concisely but also easily understood by everyone. For example, when I'm at conferences to get feedback on my doctoral thesis, I have to convey the entire idea in an elevator pitch—for which I have several hundred pages in the full version. That's quite a challenge! You're probably familiar with the term "pitch" from the context of securing contracts or investors. This means that a pitch always involves an asynchronous relationship (e.g., buyer/seller), i.e., you want to convince or win over the other party.
