I’m also a cataract, refractive and cornea surgeon here at Center For Sight. I’ve been doing LASIK, cataract surgery, and transplants for a while but now I’m happy to say that we’re doing the ICL and the newest iteration of it, the EVO. 𝙋𝙧𝙞𝙮𝙖 𝙈𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙬𝙨, 𝙈𝘿: So, my favorite part about the EVO ICL is that finally we can give an option to patients who have never had an option before. So these patients have been looking to be glasses free for years and gone to several LASIK consultations, often, and been turned down, and now we finally have an option to get rid of their glasses with the EVO ICL. 𝙈𝙚𝙜𝙖𝙣 (𝙋𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩): The first thing I noticed was I didn’t have to put contacts in in the morning. It was a great feeling to wake up and not have to worry about not being able to see. 𝘾𝙖𝙡𝙚𝙗 (𝙋𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩): The first thing I had said to my mom was, “I can see, I can see!”. She was like, “What are you seeing?” I was like, “I could see like the sun”. It was usually, the sun had just appeared orange before because it would be blurry, now I could like see like the certain colors of it. And I would say it's almost life changing. It’s like a new chapter of your life once you get it. 𝙈𝙞𝙠𝙚 (𝙋𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩): The surgical experience here at Center For Sight was really, really smooth and flawless. I mean the staff was very professional, they took time to answer all my questions, all my wife's questions. Explained everything they were doing before they did and when they did it. And then the procedure itself was painless. 𝙋𝙧𝙞𝙮𝙖 𝙈𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙬𝙨, 𝙈𝘿: The EVO ICL is approved for ages 21-45 and it can be safely done as long as the eye has enough space. At your consultation appointment we actually make sure that you are a suitable candidate that meets all the FDA requirements before we proceed with surgery. It’s a pretty simple surgery that we take the lens, and we basically insert it into the patient's eye and allows them to no longer need a contact lens on the outside. Rather it’s already in the inside of their eye, giving them really clear and crisp vision. And as an added bonus, these patients often see even better than they did with glasses or contacts. 𝙅𝙤𝙖𝙦𝙪𝙞𝙣 𝘿𝙚 𝙍𝙤𝙟𝙖𝙨, 𝙈𝘿: And the best thing about it is I’ve seen patients that come out even that same day saying, “Wow this is the best I’ve ever seen!” Some patients it takes a day or two, but the results are almost immediate and they’re dramatic. 𝙈𝙚𝙜𝙖𝙣 (𝙋𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩): Before surgery I was legally blind. I could not see without my glasses or contacts in. Now after I have better than 20/20 and can see perfectly. 𝙈𝙞𝙠𝙚 (𝙋𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩): My vision was terrible beforehand, I mean just the transition and how smooth it was, you know now compared to when I was wearing corrective lenses, contacts or glasses, they were unsightly, uncomfortable, and you know, not safe with you know employment either. Now it’s just, get up and go, everything is crystal clear, and perfect. 𝘾𝙖𝙡𝙚𝙗 (𝙋𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩): I mean, he really helped me feel comfortable, when he started, he was like, “Hey this is how it’s going to be, you’re just going to take a few deep breaths and you’re going to get into the flow of it.” Right after it had felt like I got in and out. 𝙋𝙧𝙞𝙮𝙖 𝙈𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙬𝙨, 𝙈𝘿: Sometimes glasses or contacts, they can only see 20/25, 20/30, and then with these lenses they can see even better than 20/20 which they’ve never experienced before so I always love seeing them the day after surgery and being able to witness their excitement to finally see such details that they’ve never been able to see before. 𝙅𝙤𝙖𝙦𝙪𝙞𝙣 𝘿𝙚 𝙍𝙤𝙟𝙖𝙨, 𝙈𝘿: Here’s an option for patients that have been wearing really thick glasses or contact lenses, and maybe they’re not a candidate for LASIK, and they want the same freedom from glasses. So that's why I’m very excited to offer this technology because I’ve seen from my own life, as well as from my friends that I’ve performed LASIK on or I’ve performed ICL on, you know just being able to offer this glasses independence to these people is amazing. This is really a game changer for these patients.
