Super Mario 3D World 3

Disclaimer: All of these speedruns were completed without power ups 3-1: 28 This run utilises a glitch dubbed the “Ice Glitch” by rapid crouching on ice you can build up an infinite amount of speed. This run was kind of sloppy as I rarely do glitch runs, I could easily save three seconds at the end by avoiding the staircase and could tidy up the start all in all bringing this run down to 23. 3-1: 43 I included this run as it doesn’t include the ice glitch and hence is a more consistent and fun speed run in my opinion. I have thought about dropping this to 42 but that would involve long jumping over the small ledges and bouncing off the rabbit, so many precise jumps are dauntingbut I plan to try it once some other levels are optimised. 3-2: 145 I hate auto scroller levels as I made clear with World 2 - Brigade. This auto level slightly differs though as you can run ahead of the camera if you memorise the level. The WR is 100 but utilises the cat suit. I am sure if someone memorised the level and got insanely lucky with the gate patterns this can be lowered to around 120 but I don’t want to try it as these types of levels drive everyone insane. 3-3: 65 Achieved earlier this week this instantly became one of my all-time best records. Back in December I achieved a 67 on the level and saw potential for 64. However, due to the incredible difficulty of this level it would take me 3 months to untie the time making the 67 my longest standing record at the time. However, that run had no audio so I wanted to get a 65. To put it bluntly, the sum of my best splits over the cause of my hundreds of attempts of this level were all found in this one run. I entered the balcony section on 469 pace, something I have done less than ten times. My 450 entry into the final section was not only a first but almost two seconds up with me only achieving a 449 entry two times. The run was so cooked that it was less than a tenth away from 64, and considering I was shaking in the last section trying not to choke, this could have easily been a two second cut on one of my most optimised record. However, I still feel a TAS perfect run could bring this down to 62 or 63 so I may try to lower this time now I know I am capable of a 64. 3-4: 16 One of my last records from 2019, I had to invent a whole new route as the old route around the spinning platforms was 9 frames too slow at the time. The result was a 16.87 and what I believe to be one of three perfect level runs (excluding enemy encounter levels) I have achieved. For me 15 is impossible without power ups as I struggle to find two tenths of mistakes in this run let alone the nine tenths I require. 3-5: 89 Water levels give me a good chance to compare against the WR holders as power ups don’t really help under water, that being said of the eight seconds separating my time fro the world record I reckon only two seconds can be cut without items. 3-6: 75 This is another duplicate of my PB as like 1-2 I forgot to record audio on my best run. Ironically in both cases I have entered the final section a second down but I digress. Despite having entered the last section on 340 and the second section on 378. To get the 74 I would need an almost perfect so that I enter the last section on a mid to high 340. I used to ignore the jump pad at the end but realised it was quicker, if I understand why jump pads sometimes give you large forward boosts I reckon my 2-1 record and this can both be cut by one second. 3-7: 72 Considering the scope of this record I think my time is pretty optimised. My initial run was 128, but after using Rosalina I was able to lower my time. The last jump proved annoyingly difficult to pull off but looks impressive plus saves a second or two. I think a 69 is the limit as another cyberscore speed runner claimed a 74 no power up run back in 2014. 3-A: 8 I can’t see a 7 happening unless I can find a way for the magi koopa to kill each other like the fire bros do. 3-B: 63 This could fall to a 61 but this is close to perfect as I didn’t miss a spin jump and Histocrat takes a long time to respawn. 3-T: 66 No power-ups on this record so theoretically the WR of 62 is attainable however, KingBoo97 has no video run faster than 65 so I don’t know where to improve my time. 3-X: 114 An auto scroller I actually like. I found that this levels rewards skill as by making three tight jumps you can land on the other train saving 3 or so seconds. I reckon with a better boss fight this time could fall to a 111 but the WR of 60 requires a cat suit to fly between trains and from what I know there is no way for me to return the the original train without items.
