I work full-time handle all household tasks and every week I’d plan meals, get grocery deliveries and cook dinners for my family. I’d even ask my husband and daughter for input, making sure everyone was happy with the menu. But over the past six months I noticed more complaints and dismissive comments about my cooking. My husband, for instance, kept sending me Instagram recipes and occasionally complained about repetitive dishes like rice, even though he’d approved the menu. The breaking point came on my birthday. I made a special meal including his favorite rice as a side but he said it “didn’t match” and turned off the stove without telling me. He ended up ordering Uber Eats and ate in the bedroom. I was left to finish cooking, wash dishes and even made mashed potatoes as a compromise. I’ve stopped meal planning for the family. I buy the essentials and let them handle their own dinners. My husband’s annoyed and my daughter is confused but I’m done bending over backward. Now, I finish my evenings faster leaving time for studying and working toward a career goal. I’m not sure how long I’ll keep this up but for now I feel more in control and less taken for granted. reddit stories, reddit narration, reddit, reddit storytime, reddit posts, best reddit stories, reddit storytelling, reddit narrations, rslash reddit, reading reddit stories, reddit shorts, reddit thread, funny reddit stories, reddit recap, reddit drama, am i the asshole reddit, pro revenge reddit, best of reddit, today I messed up reddit, funny reddit threads
