Ugandan Field Marshal John Gedion Okello.The Mastermind of the Zanzibar revolution -1964

Field Marshal John Gideon okello is not well known by many young generations. The history of Zanzibar would be incomplete without mentioning him.On 12th June 1964 John okello led hundreds of men in the attack on security installations that yielded weapons that would prove critical in the overthrow of Sultan Jasmid Abdalla of Zanzibar.In what has been known as a nine hour battle, thousands were killed as the hurriedly created force took over took over key installations.
