Cody the kitten was full of glee, Running around like a bumblebee. He chased his ball across the grass, He leapt so high, so fast, so fast! With ears up tall and tail held high, He dashed beneath the bright blue sky. But then—oh no!—a little rock, He tripped and tumbled with a shock! He landed with a bump and thud, And saw his paw had scraped in mud. A tiny cut, a scratch so small, But Cody felt he’d lost it all. He sniffled once, then gave a sigh, A tear welled up in his big round eye. “I’ve got a boo boo!” Cody cried, And sat down gently on his side. He didn’t want to run or play, Not now—not with his paw this way! Then came a voice so sweet and kind, A gentle breeze, a friend to find. “Cody, Cody, don’t you fret, I’ve got you covered, you bet!” It was Nina! Brave and bright, A clever pup, a lovely sight. She carried a kit, her “Helper Pack,” With bandages and snacks in a stack! “Oh Cody, let me take a look,” She said while flipping through her book. She cleaned the wound with gentle care, And brushed the dirt out of his hair. She hummed a tune to keep him calm, And placed a paw-print bandage balm. “Now look at that! You’re strong and tough! This tiny scrape? You’re more than enough!” Cody blinked and gave a grin, His heart felt warm and brave within. “I thought my day was all done wrong, But now I see—I’m brave and strong!” They high-pawed once, then twice again, Laughed out loud, and ran like wind. Back to play with cheer and song, The boo boo gone, the day was long.
