Justice Surya Kant sworn in as CJI | Historic ceremony for the 53rd Chief Justice | #cji #shortsfeed Justice Surya Kant was sworn in as the 53rd Chief Justice of India (CJI) on Monday. President Draupadi Murmu administered the oath of office at a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan. After the oath, CJI Surya Kant touched the feet of his sister and elder brother and met dignitaries present, including PM Narendra Modi. He also hugged former CJI B.R. Gavai. This ceremony was historic because, for the first time in the history of the Indian judiciary, such a large international judicial delegation attended the swearing-in of a CJI. Chief Justices of Brazil, Bhutan, Kenya, Malaysia, Mauritius, Nepal, and Sri Lanka and their family members attended the ceremony.
