This incredible video takes us through the journey of how our National Anthem – The Star Spangled Banner came to be. Francis Scott Key was an American lawyer, author, and a poet. He is best known for writing the lyrics to United States National Anthem, “The Star Spangled Banner”. He wrote the famous song during the War of 1812. While on board a British ship negotiating the release of American prisoners, Key watched as the British Navy lit up the sky bombing Fort McHenry in Baltimore all night long. It was not until Key could see through the smoke in the early morning light of dawn that they had NOT been defeated and the flag was still there. Key was so inspired that he wrote a poem on a letter in the back of his pocket which would turn out to be our National Anthem “The Star Spangled Banner”.
