By Train: Step 1: Dadar to Neral Board a Train: Take a Central Line train from Dadar (Central) to Neral. Trains to Karjat and Khopoli stop at Neral. Duration: Approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. Cost: Around ₹20-₹30 for a second-class ticket. Step 2: Neral to Matheran Option 1: Toy Train (If Available) The toy train from Neral to Matheran offers scenic views. The journey takes around 2 hours. Cost: ₹55-₹200 depending on the class. Note: Toy trains may not run during monsoon season due to landslides. Option 2: Shared Taxi If the toy train is not operational, you can take a shared taxi (around ₹80 per person) or a private taxi (around ₹400-₹500) to Dasturi Naka. Duration: 30-40minutes. Step 3: Dasturi Naka to Matheran From Dasturi Naka, you need to walk or take a hand-pulled rickshaw or a horse to reach Matheran, as no vehicles are allowed inside Matheran. Walk: 30-45 minutes.
