Amicia, Hugo and Sophia escape the slavers and continue their search for the previous Carrier and Protector. They find their remains and realise that the Order was scared of the Carrier and so had chained him up and taken his Protector away. The Protector had died in the struggle and the Carrier was scared so had given in to the Macula.
