Eligibility Criteria (as on July 1, 2025): Nationality: A citizen of India. A citizen of Nepal or Bhutan. A Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanent settlement. A Person of Indian Origin (PIO) who has migrated from certain specified countries (e.g., Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka) with the intention of settling permanently in India. (Note: Candidates from categories other than Indian citizens must have a Certificate of Eligibility issued by the Government of India.) Age Limit: Technician Grade I Signal: 18 to 33 years Technician Grade III: 18 to 30 years Age Relaxation: Applicable for reserved categories (SC/ST, OBC-NCL, PWD, Ex-Servicemen, etc.) as per government norms. Educational Qualification: Technician Grade I Signal: Bachelor of Science in Physics, Electronics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Instrumentation from a recognized University/Institute. OR B.Sc. in a combination of any sub-stream of the above basic streams. OR Three-year Diploma in Engineering in the above basic streams or in a combination of any of the above basic streams. OR Degree in Engineering in the above basic streams or in a combination of any of the above basic streams. Technician Grade III: Matriculation / SSLC plus ITI (Industrial Training Institute) from recognized institutions of NCVT/SCVT in the relevant trade. OR Matriculation / SSLC plus Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in the relevant trades. 4. Selection Process: The selection process typically comprises of three stages: Computer-Based Test (CBT): This is an objective-type test. There will be separate CBTs for Technician Grade I Signal and Technician Grade III. Negative Marking: 1/3rd of the marks allotted for each question will be deducted for wrong answers. Minimum Qualifying Marks: UR / EWS: 40% OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) / SC: 30% ST: 25% Document Verification (DV): Candidates shortlisted based on their CBT performance will undergo document verification. Medical Examination (ME): Candidates who clear DV will have to pass the requisite medical fitness test conducted by the Railway Administration. 5. Job Profile (General): RRB Technicians are crucial for the smooth and safe operation of Indian Railways. Their responsibilities vary depending on their specific department (mechanical, electrical, signal, telecom) but generally include: Maintenance, repair, and overhauling of railway rolling stock (locomotives, wagons, carriages, etc.) and other equipment. Inspecting and testing railway equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards. Troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues.
