Chopin 'Butterfly' Etude in G flat, Op.25, No.9

Chopin 'Butterfly' Etude in G flat, Op.25, No.9

The set of 12 Etudes (Op.25) dedicated to Liszt's mistress, Countess Marie d'Agoult, a writer who used the pseudonym Daniel Stern, represents a new form of concert piece that serve as development of advanced piano skills. Each Etude begins with a pattern of pianistic figuration, which creates a specific technical problem for the etude and persists for the duration of the piece. Allegro assai is the marking of this etude No. 9, and indeed, this brief piece is through before many listeners have gotten their bearings (it has been, at times, called the "Butterfly" or "Butterfly's Wings" Étude). The piece is graceful and good natured, though one can sense an impish humor at work as well. DouyaStudio YouTube channel :    / douyastudio
