Part of the popular fun racer series, it was first released in 2014 for the half-dead Wii U. Like the original version, the remastered port, "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe," allows you to drive on walls and ceilings in certain places thanks to the anti-gravity feature. What initially seems strange is actually a brilliant idea. Local multiplayer with up to 8 players is supported, as well as up to 4 players on one console. The game uses HD vibration, brings back the double item boxes, and adds the "Boo" and "Feather" as items. It helps beginners with "Smart Controls," and offers comprehensive amiibo support. All characters except one, including the completely new ones like Dry Bones, Inkling Boy, Inkling Girl, King Boo, and Bowser Jr., are selectable from the start, and all cups are unlocked right from the start, including the DLC cups from the Zelda DLC and the Animal Crossing DLC. With 48 race tracks and 8 battle arenas for the completely redesigned competition mode, which is the biggest weakness of the original Wii U version, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is the most comprehensive and, thanks to 1080p resolution at 60 FPS, the most beautiful Mario Kart of all time. The game will be released for the Nintendo Switch on April 28, 2017. Since March 18, 2022, the so-called "Booster Track Pass" has been available for an additional €25 (or a Switch Online membership), which will add a total of 12 cups with 48 additional tracks in 6 waves by the end of 2023.
