After the ocean escape, the story shifts into a flashback where Nathan and Sam meet in an asylum and manage to escape. The narrative then moves to a prison, where Nathan is brutally beaten by another inmate. Guards intervene, break up the fight, and lock Nathan in a dark cell. Later, Nathan is forced to explore ancient ruins in search of a hidden secret. There, he discovers an ancient cross and discusses its significance with Sam while planning their prison escape. However, the rival prisoner interrupts, leading to a violent confrontation. During the chaos, all three attempt to flee the prison. In the process, Sam is shot and falls to his death, while the remaining two manage to escape.
