Open Classic Lindy Hop Finals ILHC 2021 Reaction | Lindy Hop and Swing Dance

The open classic finals competition format is unique in the sense it necessitates the balance of three key elements: Solo Jazz, Social Dancing and Choreography. Traditionally this lindy hop competition has always been distinct from the Lindy Hop Showcase division due to the exclusion of aerials. Judging this open classic finals at ILHC this year surprised me more than I expected. Most of the swing dance competitors understood the three elements but very few could seamlessly weave them together maintaining the key element of surprise in order to move the audience emotionally.
