How to beat Markoth (Radiant) | Hollow Knight

A guide/commentary on how to beat Markoth Radiant, meaning taking no hits/no damage in Hollow Knight. TWITTER ►  / wayofloci   JOIN OUR DISCORD ►   / discord   -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Markoth tips Phase 1 Position on the top left or right platform as this gives the best view for seeing the nails spawn and avoid, the platforms below are slightly wider so you can step off if need to avoid markoth or nails. You want to do 15-16 hits nail hits (with recommended Charm setup), 17 will put him into Phase 2. Don't use Soul as will be used for Shade Souls in phase 2. Focus on avoiding Markoth's nails and only go for Nail hits in the following situations: 1. Pogo-ing or jumping above him and downstriking (only if comfortable with timing this) 2. Nails hits when he approaches but only when not at risk of the shield intercepting you. 3. Safest method: Shield spin, wait until the shield has passed the same point twice as it will then start expanding out, then shadow dash or drop close get in several nail hits then shadow dash out as the shield retracts. I wouldn't recommend trying to attack him if he is below the bottom left/right platforms as is very risky and not worth it. Once you have done 15-16 nail hits, wait for a Shield spin to inflict as much damage as possible before going into phase 2. Phase 2 Spam Shade souls, if you have done enough nail hits during the last Shield spin the Soul you've built up will be enough to finish the fight with Shade souls. To avoid nails I prefer staying on the top-side of the walls, either sliding down or jumping to avoid the nails. Use the sound cues as well as visuals for nail spawns with this method, as they can spawn in the wall so if you cannot see it but hear the spawn slide down or dash away to avoid. If you've not done enough damage with the Shade souls, Use Dash slashes during the Shield spin you can get one in as he begins the Spin, and one as he retracts it.
