The game is in third-person view and the story takes place five years after "Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith", nine years before "Star Wars Rebels" and fourteen years before "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope". We play as Cal Kestis, former Jedi Padawan who survived Order 66. Something happened during Order 66 that damaged his connection to the force. While he still senses it and is sometimes able to use it, these moments are few and far apart. As the empire notices that he's alive he is forced to run away and set out on a journey where he meets Cere, a former Jedi Master, and Greeze, a pilot hired by Cere. Just like Cal, Cere is unable to properly use the Force at current time. Unlike him, her connection isn't damaged.
