The song was recorded by The Jackson 5 and released by Motown Records on August 28, 1970, as the first single from their Third Album. In 1992, Mariah Carey included "I'll Be There" as a last-minute addition to her MTV Unplugged setlist, after she had been informed that most acts on the show commonly perform at least one cover. The duet version by Mariah Carey with Trey Lorenz resulted in Mariah's 6th Number 1 Single MTV Unplugged album produced by Carey and Walter Afanasieff, who played the piano for the performance. My mother is a huge Michael Jackson and made all of us love him from Jackson 5 to every next song of Michael Jackson. When Mariah sang this on Unplugged, that was such a moment so while I know this version probably sounds as confused as "Until You Come Back to Me" -I often mix my approach from Stevie Wonder's and Aretha's, I am singing both versions and of course, just my own way of feeling out this song. This song expresses how much I feel for those I actually can't see at all in my life since they live so far away. It's not easy to just be there and I know I don't have that where I am. I feel this for my loved ones who are not close and those who have passed away. I want them to hear this from beyond they way I hear them in my heart. They are there and I want them to know I'm there. So, before I start bawling feeling all this kind of way, I'd like to add the names of the songwriters: Berry Gordy, Bob West, Willie Hutch, and Hal Davis I wish I knew what inspired the writing of this song! Were Motown founders about to split or sign up a new artist and this was song was a pact or assurance? Oh, there are so many stories to Motown! This is a great song and I know I could do it better but all songs are never done so, I'll post this as a progress version. It's the best I sing straight through and I make a lot of faces thus I'm distracting you. I love special effects and this one had some issues but, I decided not to fuss over visual effects anymore than what might seem too much already. To your loved ones! Feel this for them and be there!
