A 5-year-old girl involved in a hit and run in Mauriceville has been flown to Texas Children's Hospital in Houston, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.Troopers say the girl was left in serious condition after a car hit her and drove away shortly after 5 p.m. Friday. One of the little girl's friends told us what she saw that day.She likes to play over here, she'd always come over here and play with us, Carolina Arteaga said.Eleven-year-old Arteaga said she and the Mauriceville girl seriously injured in a hit and run like to play on the playground and trampoline.Carolina's mother gave us permission to talk to her.Arteaga said her family and the girl who was injured in the hit and run are neighbors and friends. She wanted to come over, so she went through the road because the bridge was flooded, so we can't go over there, Arteaga said.DPS Troopers say the 5-year-old girl was walking by herself in the street in the 5300 block of Woodland Drive. We came oout and saw the little girl laying there, said Arteaga.A passing car hit the girl and drove away. The crash left the girl in serious condition with head injuries, according to Troopers. That wasn't really nice. They could have just stopped and look at her and say sorry and give her some money to go to the hospital and pay for her accident, that was not really, said Arteaga, That was sad.Arteaga is hopeful about her friends recovery.I want her to get better, said Arteaga.
