StarDust 💫 Acrylic Pearl Pour! Aquamarine, Hot Berry & Platinum Pop Against a Midnight Sky!

I have seen so many amazing artist doing them, with some gorgeous results and wanted to play with the technique. Dovey Gibson    / lawgirl36   Colors Amsterdam Greenish Blue Permanent Blue Violet DecoArt Extreme Sheen Berry FolkArt Treasure Gold Aquamarine Platinum Pourage Posse Galaxy Blue Shimmer plus some Amsterdam Indigo Pouring Medium: Liquitex Gloss Medium Paint + a lot of Water Floetrol There is NO Silicone in Any of My Paint. The theory behind Pearl Pours is very simple; pour some puddles, then pour a thin paint on top of the puddles and tilt it to cover the canvas quickly. The thin paint on the surface stretches very thin, allowing colorful cells from the original puddles to pop thru. If you are ever interested in the history of Acrylic Pouring, this is actually how it all started, way back in the 1930s. Acrylic Pouring has evolved a lot since then, but this technique is still beautiful. If you want more information about the science behind Pouring you can Google 'Raliegh Taylor instability' .. So I watched a ton of videos, and decided I was ready to try! I mixed my paints super thin, carefully adding a little water at a time and did it! It worked, the beautiful colors of cell bloomed and puffed and were so beautiful! Then I added some white to the corners, and instantly hated what I had done. I didn't freak out, I let it go, thinking it might change. But after a few minutes I still didn't like it so I tilted the white corners off..it worked but I lost all cell structure. I decided to scrape it and go again, because I still had paint left. Take 2.. did it all again, nice fast reaction, very pretty cells.. whoo hoo it worked! I let that one dry and went back an hour later.. all my pretty puffy cells had disintegrated and were now a hot mess! ☹ Clearly my paint was too thin to hold cell shape. I will try again tomorrow! So that's where we are now, this video is of my third Pearl Pour. I have adjusted the consistency, and left the colors a smidgen thicker than the first 2 tries. I did not add nearly as much water. Upon watching the video I could have thinned the Midnight Sky color more, and wish I had mixed up more paint. I do get cells, very pretty ones and I am happy with the piece. Those of you that know me know I'm not done with this technique yet, lol, there are so many variations to try!
