Uncharted 2 Among Thieves - Episode 3: Chapter 5 - Urban Warfare Chapter 6 - Desperate Times Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection PS4 Let's play walkthrough on hard difficulty Uncharted 2 is where Naughty Dog really kicked the series into gear, with many of the cinematic hallmarks and intuitive player navigation elements evident for the first time. Say hello to Naughty Dog yellow! ------------------------- Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is a 2009 action-adventure game developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. It is the second game in the Uncharted series, and was released in October 2009 for PlayStation 3. Set two years after the events of Drake's Fortune, the single-player story follows Nathan Drake, who partners with Chloe Frazer and Elena Fisher, as they search for the Cintamani Stone and city of Shambhala, whilst battling a mercenary group led by war criminal Zoran Lazarević. Development for Uncharted 2: Among Thieves began immediately following the critical and commercial success of the first entry.[1] The development team drew inspiration from explorer Marco Polo, and specifically, from his expeditions through archipelagos and eastern Asia. Naughty Dog also aimed to improve the game's proprietary engine, creating the game to run exclusively on the company's Naughty Engine 2.0 system. This allowed the developers to record extensive motion capture and more in-game cinematic sequences, as well as include an online multiplayer component; a first for the series. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves received universal acclaim from critics for its elaborate set pieces, character design, storytelling, graphics, technical innovation, and gameplay mechanics. It received Game of the Year accolades from numerous publications and award events, and is considered to be one of the greatest video games ever made, and among the most significant titles for the seventh console generation. It also enjoyed great commercial success, with over seven million copies sold worldwide. The game was followed by a sequel titled Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception in 2011, and was re-released on PlayStation 4 as part of Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection. About the let's play series as a whole: My aim is to present the gameplay in my playthrough by the in game chapters, to break it into neat sections and give you natural break points. As such the chapters will be of widely varying lengths, some chapters are short and barely 10 minutes, while others will run to a more episode length. I intend to replay the entire Uncharted series in their PS4 incarnations, including concluding with The Lost Legacy after Uncharted 4. When re-playing the first Uncharted game you can definitely see it was a new direction for Naughty Dog which they hadn't quite perfected yet. While it still stands up pretty well, it is also very much a work in progress which they'd didn't fully develop until the second game. The usual ND intuitive game design isn't quite there, there are moments where you have no idea where should go next, and have to make a leap of faith possibly to your death to find out. There are numerous moments where the camera is fixed during gameplay, probably partly to feel cinematic, but which feels restrictive at times. The main things not yet present in this game though are the subliminal gameplay hints developed for the second game, which became a ND hallmark, such as colour, animations and framing are used to guide the player. Something I'm noticing is missing is a personal light source; this could be a torch attached to the body, a flaming torch, a glow stick, a lighter etc . You go into areas where it's really dark at times to the point you lose where you are and where you're meant to be going, with nothing to light it with. ND seemed to beat this issue in later games, it's only very dark and disorientating when the specifically want it to be in that moment.
