WEDNESDAY 19TH NOVEMBER 2025 - CRIME WATCH LIVE Today's Highlights: "Blue-on-Blue": TTPS responds after major El Socorro drug seizure— Ian Alleyne Network stands by reporting on officers’ morning confrontation • The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) has released a statement clarifying that the incident circulating on social media involving officers of the Special Branch and Central Division occurred during a joint intelligence-driven operation. The TTPS assured the public that: 1. Public safety was never compromised, 2. All officers involved remain on duty, and 3. Joint State of Emergency operations continue nationwide under established command and control procedures. • The TTPS emphasized its commitment to professionalism, safeguarding the public, and the integrity of intelligence-led operations. The Service also urged members of the media and public to verify information through official channels to prevent unnecessary panic or compromise ongoing operations. • Around 2:45 p.m., ACP Smith, ACP Terrence Pierre, and ACP Simon, together with officers of the Central Division and Customs personnel, conducted the search based on updated intelligence. The items were seized, and enquiries are now ongoing by both TTPS and Customs. • The discovery came hours after the Ian Alleyne Network reported on a dramatic confrontation earlier in the day. According to Ian Alleyne Network sources, three Central Division officers initially attempted to intercept what they believed was a shipment of guns and ammunition at a warehouse in El Socorro. • With the nation under a State of Emergency, the officers had received permission to conduct a warrantless search under the Emergency Powers Regulations. • However, after arriving at the warehouse sometime after 10 a.m., the officers were denied access to the barrel by a customs supervisor. • Within minutes, senior Special Branch officers — including a senior superintendent and superintendent — arrived, disarmed the Central Division officers, collected their service firearms and ammunition, and escorted them to the Police Administration Building in Port of Spain, based on instructions. • The later search at the Customs Bond and seizure of high-grade marijuana appear directly connected to the intelligence that prompted the morning standoff. The tree that fell earlier causing a vehicle to plunge off the roadway along the North Coast Road in Maracas.
