Volkswagen is planning to bring back the Passat to India after discontinuing the premium saloon last year. The new-generation model, already on sale in international markets, gets a 79mm longer wheelbase, is 2mm shorter in length. The carmaker has also added 21-litres to the boot-space on offer. Volkswagen Passat Preview After discontinuing the sales of premium saloon Passat in India last February, Volkswagen is gearing up to bring Passat GTE sedan to India. Volkswagen however is considering the hybrid version of the saloon for the Indian market. Volkswagen Passat Exteriors New Passat’s front fascia has an aggressive stance, featuring LED head lamps with dynamic Light Assist as an optional fitment. Radiator grille gets three chrome slats which meet with the sleek head lamps. The bonnet in front is moulded and flanks get flared wheel arches. Chrome finished C shaped fog lamp housings in front flank vertical air intakes. Volkswagen Passat Interiors A host of new features like 12.3 inch digital instrument cluster borrowed from Audi TT and a head up display will be packed inside. Other than these, the cabin will also feature tweaked infotainment system. Luggage space is likely to be increased by 26 litres offering a total room of 586 litres. Volkswagen Passat Engine specification & Transmission Under the hood could be the 1.4 litre, four cylinder, petrol engine developing top power of 164bhp. There will also be an electric motor pumping out 113bhp making the total output stand at 215bhp. A six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox is expected to available on the hybrid saloon. Volkswagen Passat Competition In the premium saloon segment Passat GTE will gun straight against rivals like Honda Accord, BMW 3-Series and Toyota Camry. Volkswagen Passat Expected Price Volkswagen could price the new Passat GTE hybrid at around Rs 45 lakh for the Indian market. Volkswagen Passat Expected Launch Passat may be launched in India around February this year ahead of the festive season.
