The Origins of Gnosticism

Gnosticism is the name given to certain early Christian currents that emerged in the first centuries AD, which emphasised spiritual knowledge, called gnosis, over faith. They drew on the message of St. Paul and the Platonic schools common around the Mediterranean. In this lecture, Paul Kieniewicz, author of the Polish editions of "The Gospel of Thomas" and "The Gospel of Philip," asks where Gnosticism came from.
