The court's three-member bench, led by Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial and including Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Ijazul Ahsan, issued the verdict on Monday after hearing arguments from concerned parties. The top court ordered that elections be held on May 14 instead of the previously scheduled date of April 30. Prior to the ruling, the Ministry of Defence submitted a report in a sealed envelope to the top court, which reportedly contained reasons for the unavailability of troops for the elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
