Miles Gonzalo Morales is a fictional superhero created by Marvel Comics in 2011 and is part of the Spider-Man franchise. He first appeared in Ultimate Fallout #4 in 2011, following the death of Peter Parker. Morales was the main protagonist in the 2018 animated feature film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, voiced by Shameik Moore, and its 2023 and 2024 sequels. In 2014, writer Brian Michael Bendis and actor Andrew Garfield expressed interest in adapting Morales into a feature film. Producers Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach initially did not intend to replace Peter Parker in the role. However, after Marvel brokered a deal with Sony, producer Kevin Feige expressed interest in exploring the character, even though Morales would not appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) for the foreseeable future. In 2017, Feige confirmed that Miles Morales does exist in the MCU.
