Throughout his discography, Honeysmack’s acid and punk aesthetics are somewhere between a common thread and live wire. Listening to these well-loved combinations in his studio, including on his famed 303 (he still has the first one he bought) was a surreal experience. And when we asked about his Boss distortion pedal he picked it up and said “really, this is the Honeysmack acid sound – it’s a big part of my live performance”. Indeed, a Honeysmack live set is his passion for the rawness and energy of real-time performance and “the sound of electricity” that comes from analogue machines. He is currently researching the topic as part of his PhD in music composition. He explores this and his other musings Inside The Studio.
