Mendoza landed 93 out of 433 punches for a 22% connect rate. Tszyu had to overcome a very brave effort from Mendoza, who used slickness and movement to stay in the fight early. Tszyu poured the pressure on in the second half of the fight, and landed some big blows, but Mendoza weathered the storm and saw the final bell. Tszyu landed 98 out of 258 power punches while Mendoza connected on 71 out of 225 power shots. Both men also connected on just 22 jabs over the course of 12 rounds. Tszyu sees his record rise to 24 and 0 with 17 knockouts, while Mendoza falls to 22 wins with three losses and 16 knockouts to his credit. Could Tszyu be clashing with fellow champion Jermell Charlo soon? We can only hope.
