On this occasion, a Sarva-Dharma Prarthana was held at Gandhi Samadhi, Rajghat in New Delhi this morning. Every year on 30th January, the nation honours the life and legacy of Mahatma Gandhi, who was the guiding light of India’s struggle for independence. This day is also observed as Martyrs’ Day or Shaheed Diwas, which marks a moment of reflection on the profound sacrifices made in the pursuit of freedom. KHARSINGSA::MIN VETERINARY Minister for Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, Gabriel D. Wangsu conducted a comprehensive inspection of the renovated Central Pig Breeding Farm at Kharsingsa yesterday following its recent rehabilitation and new pig induction program. The minister assessed the facility's newest additions of 20 high-quality pigs comprising of Large White Yorkshire, Hampshire, and Landrace breeds. These animals were sourced last month from the renowned Symbiotic Pig Breeding Farm in Tezpur, Assam. Minister Wangsu emphasized the critical importance of proper feed management and stringent quarantine procedures for the newly arrived piglets. He further said that, "Our focus is on rebuilding and expanding our breeding program with the highest standards of care and disease prevention." The Kharsingsa facility is currently undergoing a significant revitalization effort after losing its entire pig population to African swine fever last year. In response to this setback, the department is implementing robust measures to strengthen quarantine facilities and enhance bio security protocols. ITANAGAR::JOURNALISTS ENROLLED UNDER CMAAY Health and Family Welfare Minister Biyuram Wahge has urged journalists to play a proactive role in disseminating information about government schemes to ensure their benefits reach the public effectively. The Minister said this while speaking at a mass enrolment event for working journalists under the Chief Minister Arogya Arunachal Yojana at the Arunachal Press Club, Itanagar on Wednesday. Wahge underscored the media’s role in bridging the gap between the government and the people. He added that, “Journalists are the voice of the people. Their responsibility extends beyond reporting – they are also key agents in spreading awareness about welfare schemes that are meant to improve lives”. Earlier the health minister handed over CMAAY cards to three journalists to mark the occasion. The mass enrolment under CMAAY, the first such initiative in the country, enables both APST and non-APST journalists registered with the Arunachal Pradesh Union of Working Journalists to avail health benefits. TAWANG::DLMC MEET The District Level Monitoring Committee meeting for the quarter ending December 2024-25 convened at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner's office, Tawang on Wednesday. Deputy Commissioner (in-charge), Tawang, Sangey Wangmu Mosobi in her address urged the Departments to highlight issues requiring intervention from the DC’s office and to provide reasons for any delays in the project completion. She emphasized that the DLMC meeting was additionally aimed at reviewing progress and addressing challenges related to District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee and the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao schemes. YINGKIONG:: ANTI-DRUG AWARENESS PROGRAMME In a crusade against drug abuse, the Upper Siang District Police, Yingkiong conducted an anti-drug awareness programme at VKV School, Yingkiong on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion, Sub-Inspector, PS, Yingkiong, Kipa Robin emphasized on sustained effort from all stakeholders to effectively fight against the drug menace. He advised students to stay away from drugs and engage themselves in physical activities like sports to remain active and healthy.
