This time, I visited Dandong in China's Liaoning Province. This is a border town across the Yalu River from Sinuiju, North Korea. I experienced firsthand the North Korean townscape as seen from the Chinese side, the vibrant local life, and local cuisine and spots. Some media have described Dandong as "ruins," but what I saw was a bustling town that serves as a hub for tourism and trade.
