Reciter: Saad Al Ghamdi Surah Name: AL-AN'AM (سورة الأنعام) Makki/Madni: Makki Surah Number: 6 ABOUT SURAH SURAH AL-AN'AM: This SURAH AL AN'AM was revealed in Makkah and contains a total of 165 verses. Imam Ridha (a.s.) has said that this SURAH AL-AN'AM was revealed accompanied by the descending of seventy thousand angels. These angels will ask forgiveness from Allah (S.w.T.) for any person who recites this Surah AL-Anaam, and they will continue doing so until the Day of Judgement. Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (a.s.) has said that if a person writes this Surah AL-AN'AM using musk or saffron and then drinks it (ie. puts the written Surah AL-AN'AM in water for its writing to dissolve) for six consecutive days, that person will be blessed abundantly and will be free from all problems and ailments. He will not loose his health or fall sick. The 6th Holy Imam (a.s.) also said that this SURAH AL AN'AM must be accorded due respect as the name of Allah (S.w.T.) appears 70 times in it. If people knew the benefits of reciting this SURAH AL AN'AM, they would never leave it. SURAH AL AN'AM Benefits There are different narrations related to Surah AL-AN'AM benefits. According to Sahih Bukhari Hadith No 3524, Narrated Ibn `Abbas: If you wish to know about the ignorance of the Arabs, refer to Surat-AL-Anaam after Verse No. 130:-- Indeed lost are those who have killed their children From folly without knowledge and have forbidden that which Allah has provided for them, inventing a lie against Allah. They have indeed gone astray and were not guided.' (6.14) The importance of Surah Anam benefits is also revealed from this hadith. The Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) said that Qur’an was revealed in one fifth part, whoever memorized it in one fifth parts would not forget it. Except for Surah al An’am, which was revealed in its entirety, seen off by seventy angels from each heaven until they delivered it to the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him). Never has it been recited over a sick person, without Allah granting him a cure’. A hadith narrated by Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbas (Blessings Of Allah Be Upon Him) also signifies Surah Anam benefits. He has reported that the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) said that whoever reads the first three verses of Surah An’am when he reads Fajr Salah, forty thousand angels write down good deeds for him. One Angel with Iron spear will appear and stand guard between Heavens and Earth to safeguard the person from Shaytan, forcing the latter behind 70 veils. On the day of judgment Allah Ta’ala will say to him I am your Rabb and you are my slave, walk in my shade and drink from the pond of Kawthar, take a bath from Salsabil and enter Jannah without punishment and reckoning. Primary Aim Of Surah AL-AN'AM This Surah’s primary goal, like that of previous Meccan Suras, is to introduce listeners to the triple doctrines of the oneness of Allah, prophecy, and resurrection. However, it places a strong emphasis on monotheism and rejects both paganism and infidelity. The soul of hypocrisy may eradicate from Muslims by paying particular attention to the passages of this Surah. It will also cause the ears to listen, the eyes to be pretty obvious, and the hearts (psyches) to know.
