In 1984, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Double Trouble played Butte College in Oroville, CA as part of their "Couldn't Stand the Weather" tour. As far as I'm aware, this tape hasn't yet circulated in SRV collector's circles. It's an audience tape in fair sound, but more important, the band is in top form, taking many of flag-waver tracks at breakneck tempos. One reason for that may be the local opening act from nearby Chico - the Ralph Shine Blues Band - which turned in a barnburner of a set to kick off the show. Stevie Ray reportedly thought the out-of-the-way burg of Oroville was going to be a night to take it easy, but after hearing the opener's set and the enthusiastic crowd, he reportedly told one of their guitarists "You guys were great, but you're now you're making me have to work."
