Hitmonchan is definitely one of the most interesting fighting Pokémon that gen 1 (red/blue/green/yellow) has to offer , when it come to diverse move pool . As the punching master that it is , it gets almost the punches known to men, while having some extra bulk in the special department ,it hits with each punch, which has, each a different type, giving it a way to do some super effective damage , against the most powerful types in game, like water, ground, flying ,grass, bug, steel( In gen 4 ,its definitely a force to be recon with) . How cool is that to have an electric move , a fire move, and most of all an ice move , with a chance to status your opponent. That must be a legendry Pokémon right ? Well, it could have been if it was gen 4 ... But back then, in gen 1 physical and special attacks were determined by the type collectively, which means that Hitmonchan's elemental punches are all special attacks . While in gen 2 and onwards , Hitmonchan got 110 base special defense, in gen 1 (like any fighting type) , its base special is equal to it's modern special attack stat , which is 35 base special . To put things into perspective , Rhydon has 45 base special. So I've decided to crank this solo challenge to 11 , (like I always do) and use a 7 DVS Hitmonchan ( I use a mediocre Pokémon even though the solo run community prefers to use a max dvs pokemon, for the propose of examining that certain Pokémon's peak performance, because I approach the challenge from a causal player's perspective , that wont reset the game to have a perfect Pokémon ,or hack one , in order to try the challenge. And besides the game will almost usually generate a starter which is between 2 dvs to13dvs ,so having to test that with a 7dvs pokemon would produce a more or less accurate results in terms of the pokemon's true nature in my opinion) and try to win against every trainer which has now max dvs pokemons. And while we are at that ,the rival is going to have a better starter , a hypno with gen 2 egg move and trade moves that can use TMs, against us . The rules are pretty simple for this challenge : 1. I'm allowed to use my starter pokemon in battle (but I define a battle in a different way: do I get exp and do I keep it ?as long as I don't keep the exp, I don't consider this as a battle, that's why I'm allowing blackout training ) 2. I can only use the elemental punches and I cant use struggle in battle , that means, that if I'm out of pp I'll be forced to reset . 3. I can't use items in battle , and I can't use vitamins or pp ups . 4. I can't use game breaking glitches , that would make me the champion without fighting or doing the challenge, but I allow to use the badge boost glitch , dig/fly glitch , etc. 5. I can't use evasion moves at all , even if I can't complete the challenge with these moves , because I hate being hit by these moves and I hate using them .
