CCP Nationalism is Ruining Chinese Culture for Me 观点文章 | Opinion Piece I really like reading ancient Chinese books, I'm reading Zhuangzi right now, and I like tea culture and the architecture, but modern Chinese nationalism is ruining it for me. China actually unsafe? 中国生活 | Life in China I’ve been wanting to go to China for study abroad and in the future work but I keep hearing horror stories of foreigners getting arrested, interrogated , jailed and just in general having no legal chance against citizens. I am Han chinese born abroad, but this still concerns me. I don’t really have any plans to speak about politics or critisize ccp while i’m there, but in general regarding overall life is it really just not worth it to go? How bad is it really? I have the option to study in Taiwan instead and commit to working towards a life there as well... Thoughts? Many people tell me the good parts of the culture are there in Taiwan and its safer politically, legally and in general, but I also know many people who tell me all the rumors about bad things in china are overstatwd and I need to go there. I feel like I have this deep love of old China, but then when I encounter "modern China", and it's toxic ideology, it's just slowly poisoning everything else. I can barely think about Chinese history anymore without thinking of all the obnoxious Chinese nationalists claiming they invented everything and pushing their other propaganda talking points. Us citizen wanting to visit HK but afraid to 咨询 | Seeking Advice (Serious) So, I'm a us citizen looking to visit my gf in Hong Kong when the borders do open again but am afraid of the NSL that's currently in place. What are some ways I can avoid doing anything that would go against the NSL in any way and lower my chances of any trouble? I've never spoken on or will ever speak on the political topics as it's none of my business.
