Let's Play Detroit: Become Human - Part 2 (No Commentary - PC Gameplay)

Disclaimer This is a blind playthrough. I played the game the way I did, hoping for the best ending (as well as letting empathy stand strong). That means that this is not a 100% playthrough and there will be places where I miss cues. This is very much a game that let you make certain choices that can have dire consequences but the game does not say "game over", it will just continue and you will have to make due. Technical This is a fairly broken game, even though it is from 2019 and required several tweaks for me to get it to work properly. I will list what I did below, but first let me explain just what happened. First of all, the game crashes on shader compiling. Yep, the very first few seconds of the game. The FPS is limited to 30 or 60, with it defaulting to 30, which makes for a very frustrating cold opening. There is also an issue with the audio engine, which causes static, crackling or loss of audio throughout the game. USB audio devices seem to be mainly affected by this. Game Fixes/Changes Shader compiling issue: Set the game executable to compatability mode for Windows 7. FPS limited: Open GraphicOptions.JSON in notepad. Find the FRAME_RATE_LIMIT and change the value to 4 for no FPS limit, 3 for 144 FPS or 2 for 90 FPS. Note that going into graphic options seem to reset this (or relaunching the game, for me) Audio static/crackling: This was a rough one to find a fix for. Download dinput8.dll from https://github.com/quidrex/CrashFix/r... put it in the directory where the game executable is. Nothing to overwrite. See more here: https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Det... Spoiler-free review Honestly, if you have any interest in this, get this game and play it yourself. The choices you make are unique to you and there are plenty of pathways for it to be tailored completely after your unique playthrough. Human allegories aside, Detroit: Become Human is an interactive movie with choices. There is limited gameplay in it but you are in control of your actions and choices throughout it all. The game very rarely takes control away from you, so you are essentially the cause and effect of the entirety of it. The story is big in scale and absolutely also filled with personal stories, asking some interesting questions (and absolutely topical) about what makes someone/something alive. The story is not unique or have never been seen before, the plots have been done in many books, movies and series but it does them well and in what feels like a personal project. Quantic Dream have made these kind of games for awhile now and they seem to have perfected the formula, that is not to say that the game or the formula is perfect. It's good, great even, for what it does and I heartily recommend this game. It's up there among the best experiences I have had on a computer. Also I just freaking love Clancy Brown.
