3 Tips for Measuring Blood Pressure

How is your blood pressure? If it's on the high side, you'll want to monitor it by taking your blood pressure at home. Dr. Mike and Dr. Crystal have some tips to make sure you are getting the best results! Dr. Mike: Got high blood pressure, and you need to be checking it at home? Remember these three things. Dr. Crystal: One is make sure you have the right cuff size. Don't share cuffs. Get one that's the perfect size for you because if it's too small, you're going to have a higher reading. Dr. Mike: And then remember when you check your blood pressure, when you first sit down, wait a couple minutes, relax and then you want to sit straight up. Feet flat. And then when you put your arm out, make sure your arm is just below the heart a little bit. Dr. Crystal: And then make sure you're consistent. Take your blood pressure at the same time of the day, every day, and make sure you keep track with the journal. And those three tips can help.
