⚡️ Hard Brexit Doom is Nonsense says Economist Roger Bootle! ⚡️

The economist Roger Bootle says that claims the UK will fall off over some sort of cliff edge without a Brexit deal are just nonsense. LIKE THIS? If no deal then transpires it will not necessarily spell political disaster.” But one wonders if this is at the forefront of Theresa May’s mind as she prepares to dine with EU leaders and discuss the future of the Brexit talks. Although some are saying this is a rushed meeting to break the deadlock, Downing Street sources are quoted as saying that it’s been in the diary for weeks. With Jean-Claude Juncker, the EU Commission president already saying there will be an autopsy after the meeting, one has to wonder if it’s a bit of a dead duck at the moment. But the UK foreign Secretary, Boris Johnson, is keen to keep Brexit moving saying that we can’t let the grass grow under our feet and that talks should move on to serious conversations about the future. And talking about the post Brexit rights of EU nationals living in the UK and Brits living in the EU he said that a very good and fair offer had been made by the UK side, so it was time to settle that side of things. “Let’s give them that reassurance, - he said - let’s put a tiger in the tank, let’s get these conversations going and stop letting the grass grow under our feet. We hope very much that our friends and partners will take that message and really begin to do some serious negotiations.” But one leaver is not happy about the state of progress. The former director of the official Leave campaign, Dominic Cummins, has fired a broadside at the the government and is quoted in Prospect Magazine as saying: “Theresa May and David Davis have provided a case study of grotesque uselessness” Some people may interpret that as somehow admitting that Brexit was wrong, but for me he was just telling the world what he thought of how the Tories have handled it thus far. So, how well do you think Theresa May has handled Brexit? Please leave a comment below.
