Undefeated Mexican boxing star Zurdo Ramirez already knows the stakes are high when his next fight is up against a fellow undefeated champion, but imagine how much pressure there is once you find out that if you win, you might have a chance to fight the Mexican boxing legend Canelo Alavarez! Because that's what Golden Boy promoter Oscar De La Hoya just told us. Inside Fighting's Andrew Capucetti met up with Oscar at the Brickhouse Boxing Gym in Los Angeles, where they discussed the upcoming bout between Zurdo Ramirez and Dmitry Bivol for the WBA Light Heavyweight Championship, in which both fighters are trying to keep their unbeaten streaks alive. We talked to Oscar about the fact that Zurdo is from Mexico and has a chance to be one of the best Mexican fighters ever, which spawned the obvious quesiton of whether Zurdo has a chance to fight the best active Mexican boxer, Canelo Alvarez. Oscar doesn't hesitate. He says he absolutely wants to make the fight happen. "It would be an all out Mexican war!" Canelo actually lost to Bivol back in the early part of 2022, so a fight makes sense for Zurdo to be one of Alvarez's next opponents. Oscar also commented on the the fact that Zurdo is a 3:1 underdog in the fight, which Oscar had no problem with. in fact he downright loved it. "I love it... It gives him (Zurdo) that fire." Zurdo Ramirez and Dmitry Bivol square off this Saturday night, November 5th, at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi.
