Cold Chisel Cheap Wine

Undoubtedly Australia's greatest rock band Cold Chisel were at their intimidating and explosive best during their 1981 Summer Offensive. Road tough they demolished house records accross the land. Many ask why were they not a global sensation? Having gone from playing for peanuts a few years earlier to now ensuring a full house and the supposed financial gain at every venue, every night maybe they werent thinking strategically and just wanted to blow the punters away. Why play for 80 people in Michigan when you can play for 5000 in Melbourne? Maybe they thought the world could wait. When they did eventually leave our shores they scared audiences with their unmitigated attack. Look at the end of the Rockpalast DVD to see how they won over a highly critical audience and had them baying for more. As importantly it is funny to see Jimmy sing to the Germans...."I love to march while some Nazi calls the time". Don Walker is no fool but I bet he spent time pondering the set list and thought in true Chisel style..."bugger them". The song before is the end of Russel Morris singing "Roar of the Wild Torpedoes" and obviously INXS singing their original version of ""the loved one" is at the end. I kept the clips going as there were some great photos of Steve. Also the two bands were great mates so I hope they dont mind. RIP Steve and Hutch. Eight dollars to see Chisel, Mondos and InXS on a steaming Saturday night in Melbourne. Time Machine anyone?
